William Tolliver has been released from prison following the deadly 2020 downtown Seattle mass shooting at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street that killed Tanya Jackson and wounded seven others, including a 9-year-old boy. The Seattle shooting suspect ultimately received a 48-month sentence after King County prosecutors reduced the original first-degree murder case to second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, and unlawful firearm possession.
On January 22, 2020, at least 24 rounds were fired in approximately six seconds during evening rush hour in downtown Seattle. Tanya Jackson, 50, was killed, and seven bystanders were wounded.
William Tolliver and Marquise Tolbert fled Washington and were later captured by U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas. After Tolbert was acquitted of murder and assault, prosecutors amended Tolliver’s charges. Tolliver ultimately received a 48-month sentence and, after credit for time served and earned early release, served roughly three years behind bars.
